Good to know Wallace! I know I'll be needing more arbalestiers, and I don't think a third starter set is likely for me.

Also I agree that the packaging should be kept consistent.

 Thats good to know. When I have some money i will be taking you up on that. I have just bought 2 x Archangels, 2 x Serjants and a box of Mangonel.....
So it maybe after Christmas

you can never have too many peasants, I mean who else are you going to tax, and get to do all the work of building your castle.

they are my favorite unit to field simply because they're the hardest unit to use, and historically the most common unit in an Army. When I win a battle with most of my Army being peasants, I kind of feel like a legendary hero

hehe I use them to mostly feed my Soffrances with life force at the moment but do like the Arbalestiers.
I have an idea for a Normandie army that would need 3-4 units of them, 3 units of Franc Chevalers 2 units of Serjants (Swords) and a few other units to balance the cost of the Chevalers....

There are quite a few units out of the starter set that i would like some more of, thats why I am thinking of getting a 2nd box but would still need to buy at last 1 extra set of Arbalestiers. 8-)
With 4 sets of peasants I can also see me trying something diffrent with them too.

the Arbalestiers are the best point balancers low-cost units whenever I go into penalty points in a game or were using penalty points (many games we just ignore penalty points and go by base points) there usually the units to help me balance out.

With the upgrade in firing power that they recently received they are actually more valuable in defensive strategies then the long Bowman as you can field two units of Arbalestiers for every unit of long Bowman point wise. And their ability to shield the other units in the tile until the enemy is close enough to do some damage is excellent. I usually give them, items that increase there initiative so that they load and fire on the same turn.

Yes I think another player called his peasants copper tops because that's what he did was feed them to the sofrances . I use them to position enemy units for a flanks.

but I have a soft heart for the low born all jokes put aside

It was there defensive abilities that gave me the idea for my Normandie army. I have been testing the idea in practice games and looks to work at the smaller scale. Now I just need the extra troop to test it at the larger scale
I am thinking that the peasants may work to pin down the enemy troops for cavalry charges. 8-)

Takes a very special peasant to initiate combat, they are cowards. May be better off with spears

Better boost their morale 'cause they'll be running for their life soon enough :)

As long as they stay to see the Franc Chevalers charge. They are welcome to run after that and it would be a better fate than being "copper tops" for the Soffrances

If they are just in the way, how do you stop them from being shot down?

I would be interested in seeing you play with this tactic. I've never gotten peasants to work as screens. It would be neat to see it done correctly.

Marrenne's healing power's will help but do not forget that they will be a screen for 4 unites of Arbalestiers and 2 Mangonels so probably not high on the target list for shooting at. ;)
It’s just an idea I am playing with really.
The test army has Serjants and Billmen doing the job of screening and attacking. The Though was I could replace 1 unit with 2 Vileins.

I see what you're trying to do there. IMO waste of arrows to shoot at arbs, thier missile block is way to high to be effective. The mangonel, MAYBE. How do the penalty points look on this list, thats a whole lot of shooting.

FYI - Deamon armies are going to give your list hell (pun intended)

Unfortunately I do not have the units to try it at that stage but with 2x Arbalestiers, 1x archers, 2x Mangonels, 2x peasants, 1xSerjants, 2x Soffrances, 2x Franc Chevalers, and 4 hero’s the Franc Chevalers are still giving penalty points to the list.
By the time I have to worry about daemon on the table my daemon army will be ready and I will be using that instead
