what I like to deploy first and last and in the middle ;)

First Deployment ,
catapults
need to be loaded ASAP there very slow I usually put them first even if I used initiative items to speed things up. if you have enough items chained you can get them to load and fire in the same turn .what I load depends on what units he has .

Marrenne
the effectiveness of poison wind is over time I only cast it on the first turn , if I see a tile with two units of yimps its worth to cast as you can kill them with poison wind. but usually the strongest cluster of units is her target. usually have here with the Yimps proto blast is always worth the wait .

Holy monks
the sooner they start chanting the better, I found if you have three units of them all chanting fatigue and veil renewal they will keep singing the whole game . if I have a lot of bow men I might start with missile accuracy and if the enemy has a lot of bowmen and do not have enough tempest Mariannes to stop them then I cast missile shield. I seldom take less than three if so, I have to item them up with veil renewal items .

long-bowmen I seldom use long shot in the beginning of the game its good at the end when they are fleeing. Usually a target has gotten in range by the time there turn comes up

Emmy
now if I have an big emmy in my army ( may son has the two emissary's in his army) I only like to field if I playing evil side you have to charge forward as fast as you can before you get whittled down at the higher levels I move him alone two tiles forward keep my units safely back on that side of the board and use stomp you can usually get two stomps in and create a lot of damage , and of course  at anything goes you just have Lucifer teloport him across the board and wreak pure havoc .

Middle deployment
depends on the terrain and objective of the battle if I going to play strong offensively or more defensively but it includes all the foot men, hoblars single units of yimps, in a more defensively game I will have the cross bow men activate the shielding for the units in the tile ( try some time for fun three units of cross bow all shielded in a forest or even a ruin tile almost imposable to hit with missile fire .so I some times use two units to protect a unit I need at full strength when there time comes these are the guy that experiance the brunt of battle I would not take and army with out core units, like spear men or sword men.

End deployment
is usually the end game elements like FC , Billmen Angels , they are deployed one tile back out of range of poison wind or catapults that why the 6 x 8 tile set up is so nice you can protect them and use the non combat skill to charge up so when its time to unleash them the are fully charged rested and can . I found its to risky to put them in reserves you have a lot less control over them . the bill men and angels are to easy of a target to missile fire so until I have quieted the arrows I do not bring them out

love to hear other ideas,

Pardon me for saying this, but I found your typing very hard to read.

Sorry for being very broad with my criticism. Shame on me.

I don't mind the grammar and spelling (though it would certainly help). I would appreciate it if the punctuation makes it a bit easier to read.

Say this one:

Quote:
End deployment
is usually the end game elements like FC , Billmen Angels , they are deployed one tile back out of range of poison wind or catapults that why the 6 x 8 tile set up is so nice you can protect them and use the non combat skill to charge up so when its time to unleash them the are fully charged rested and can . I found its to risky to put them in reserves you have a lot less control over them . the bill men and angels are to easy of a target to missile fire so until I have quieted the arrows I do not bring them out

I'd make it so, keeping the grammar and spelling:

Quote:
End deployment
is usually the end game elements like FC , Billmen, and Angels. They are deployed one tile back out of range of poison wind or catapults. That why the 6 x 8 tile set up is so nice: you can protect them and use the non combat skill to charge up so when its time to unleash them the are fully charged rested and can . I found its to risky to put them in reserves, since you have a lot less control over them . the bill men and angels are to easy of a target to missile fire so until I have quieted the arrows I do not bring them out

I pretty much use the same deployment as that. Although i usually deploy my crossbowmen with the Marrenne's.
She needs her guards

I dont like the securion & soffrance cuz

A the soffrance weaken (hurt) the decurion
B the soffrance slow the decurion down
C they only have 3 attacks for the whole unit
D i dont recall any decurion which gives soffrance many morale boosters

agreed on the down side but there intimidation is so high that non-elite units will run if attacked by them .

I guess you'd get him to fly first so that the calvary do their ful canl charge, they must have a pretty high intimidation also combined i have to try that combo out

Yep and until he is flying they do not go charging anything ;)
Once engaged the Decurion can heal and buff them and if you can get a Rejuvenate cast on them the Decurion keeps going for longer
